Techniques and understanding evolve constantly, and we love keeping up to date with the very best in our industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>Sunday 19th October<\/strong>, we spent the day at the <strong>International Groomers Conference<\/strong>, where leading stylists and educators from around the world shared live demonstrations, insights, and fresh inspiration. It was a brilliant reminder of how much creativity and craftsmanship goes into every groom &#8211; and how important ongoing learning is for every professional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why continued learning matters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Every dog who visits us deserves the very best care. His focus on balance and coat texture gave the trim a playful and kawaii-like charm<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lisa Hart \u2013 Asian Style Poodle<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong> Lisa, a multi-award-winning stylist and respected international speaker, shared her techniques for achieving that perfect princess head. Her calm, patient approach and clear love for the dogs she works with\u00a0 made it a pleasure to watch.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Katya Usenik (Croatia) \u2013 Pomeranian Styling<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong>Katya, known across Europe for her expertise with Pomeranians and premium coat care, focused on maintaining healthy double coats while still achieving a neat, rounded outline. She shared how understanding coat structure prevents over-trimming and keeps dogs comfortable long-term.<br><br>During this session, <strong>Julia Harris<\/strong> also gave a fascinating explanation about <em>Pomeranian coat growth<\/em> and what groomers call <em>\u201ccoat funk.\u201d<\/em> She explained that when the outer guard hairs are cut too short, they can take a long time to regrow\u00a0 and in some cases may not grow back at all. His technique was calm and exact, preserving the coat\u2019s natural texture and colour. It was inspiring to see such craftsmanship applied with such quiet confidence.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lisa Parker (UK) \u2013 Clipped Schnauzer<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong> Lisa, who specialises in hand-stripped breeds and shows Miniature Schnauzers, shared her expertise in adapting breed patterns for everyday salon clients. Her tidy clipped Schnauzer trim was both practical and full of breed character.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What we took away<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Days like this remind us that there\u2019s always more to learn. We came home to <strong>Kimberley<\/strong> with fresh ideas, refined techniques, and plenty of enthusiasm to keep improving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every speaker reinforced something that aligns perfectly with our own philosophy: <strong>the best grooming happens when comfort, knowledge, and artistry come together<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re now keen to put some of these new techniques into practice and will soon be looking for a few <strong>local model dogs<\/strong> to help us refine our skills.
